Who is a candidate for SkinPen®?
You are a good candidate for a SkinPen® treatment if you are looking to reduce the appearance of acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, minimize pores and improve skin texture.
When can I return to my skincare routine?
After your SkinPen treatment, it is important to keep your skin clean and hydrated and there may be certain products you should avoid. When you come in for your treatment, we will discuss with you what products you use regularly and what products you should temporarily stop using until the healing process is complete.
How does SkinPen® work?
Inflammation, Proliferation, and Remodeling. Microneedles pierce the skin, triggering your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow, and begin to create new tissue. The micro-wounds created by SkinPen are rebuilt with new granulation cells that include collagen proteins. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops. The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels which are comprised of rich collagen and elastin proteins. These proteins improve skin youthfulness.
Is anesthesia or numbing required?
While it is not required, we use a custom, highly effective prescription topical numbing cream for the patients’ comfort.
What will my recovery time be?
One of the main benefits of a SkinPen® treatment is there is minimal downtime. You should expect to be a little red immediately after your treatment but nothing should prevent you from returning to normal daily activities. Your skin may feel dry and scaly as it heals so it is important to keep the skin clean and hydrated.
